Volte with an e, echoes the word “Revolution”. Dominating digital players appear with nice and friendly logos (Google rainbow colors, Amazon smile, Facebook thumb or a Apple inc. healthy fruit), where everything remains friendly and reassuring, while accumulating record breaking profits for shareholders. Volte sends a stronger signal, which also aims to inform people of the system in place, and that there is a possibility to join our community to fight it.
- Incidentally, you will remember “Volt” is the name of the dog in the international Disney cartoon 'Volt, star in spite of himself', a bit like Lycos, a dog will look for information, it's nice, faithful, man's best friend
- “Volta”, in American SF literature from Bradbury to the French today with Alain Damasio, was often the acronym used to symbolize a group of diehards fighting against a system.
- Volte is about energy, speed, quickness, efficiency, so the similarity with “Volt was a no brainer
- Finally, it is a word that everyone can easily pronounce and remember, around the world. And Volte's ambition is planetary.
Everytime you search using Volte you contribute in giving and helping the world. You accumulate small hearts that a hand receives on the top right corner of your screen. Those hearts translate into support given to the organization you selected.
How does Volte make support?
Like any other search engine, volte.earth earns support from clicks on the advertisements that appear above and beside the search results.
The advertisements on volte.earth are clearly labeled as Ads and are text links to websites that pay for each click by users. The ads are
delivered to you by our partner Bing, who pays volte.earth a share of the revenue generated via these ads.volte.earth earns a few cents for every
click on an ad from Bing – or a portion of the purchase price made through an affiliate link. volte.earth then gives 80% of the profits from
this ad revenue to the projects chosen by users.
How much each ad click contributes to?
The value of each ad click varies depending on the competition on the key word and the value of what is being advertised and the
country you are searching from. Some search terms like “credit”, “bank account” or “solar panel” come with more lucrative ads than,
for example, “chocolate” or “sticky notes”. A click on one of the more lucrative keyword ads may help raising more for a project, others
may finance a fraction. Taking into account that not every volte.earth user clicks on an ad every time they search, the contribution is by 0.2
cents (USD) per search.
How much support can I contribute in a month?
This depends on - you probably guessed it - clicks on ads. During the European summer months, the contribution is often lower
because people would rather be outside, whereas in winter the revenue peaks (especially around Christmas). To keep track of the
monthly earnings and costs, take a look at our financial reports.
My cause is not listed, can I add it?
Of course! And this is where the power of volte.earth gets unleashed. Literally ANY cause can be added. From International NGOs, up to your
down the street baker that makes those amazing croissants, you can choose to support anyone with a website. See list of projects here
How can I be sure the support goes to the right hands?
All of our causes follow Epic's strict auditing processes or sign a contract with Volte, which binds them to an eventual audit or commitment to the ethical use of funds, following Volte's thorough verification and due diligence. If an organization does not meet the minimum compliance threshold, the support is redistributed to the Epic Foundation as explained in the facility's disclaimer. In addition, Volte is available by contract to be audited by NGO partners.
